Twelve children are currently undergoing treatment for measles symptoms at Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, with three new admissions recorded in the last 24 hours.
District Civil Surgeon Dr Abu Hasan Shahin confirmed on Saturday evening that 39 patients with measles or related symptoms have sought treatment in the district over the past three months.
According to the civil surgeon, samples from all these patients were sent to Dhaka for laboratory testing, with four cases officially tested positive for measles.
While 12 symptomatic children remain hospitalised, two were discharged after recovery on Saturday.
In response to the influx of patients, a dedicated 10-bed isolation ward has been established at the Sadar Hospital to ensure specialised care and prevent further transmission.
Paediatric specialist Assistant Professor Morshed Alam Hiru reassured the public, saying there is no immediate cause for panic
“The number of patients is under control, and those admitted are generally stable and receiving proper care,” he said.
