138 newly hospitalised with dengue fever in 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, 138 patients have been hospitalised nationwide from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease.

This brings the total number of hospitalisations this year to 21,118, with 83 reported deaths.

July accounts for the highest number of fatalities, with 41 deaths -- nearly half of the total

The second highest was in June, with 19 deaths.

In addition, 10 people died in January, three in February, seven in April, and three in May.

The number of hospital admissions due to dengue this year reached its peak in July, with 10,684 people. The second-highest number was in June, with 5,951 individuals.

In addition, 1,161 patients were admitted to the hospital in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, and 1,773 in May.

According to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin on Friday, a total of 27 patients were admitted in the two city corporations of Dhaka, 25 in the rest of the Dhaka Division, 49 in Barishal, 17 in Chattogram, 10 each in Khulna and Rajshahi.
