Bangladesh received $1.79 billion (Tk 179.97 crores) in remittances in the first 24 days of May, according to Bangladesh Bank sources.
On average, the migrant workers sent $74.60 million in remittances every day, reports local media.
Bangladesh Bank, in its updated report, said the country received $1.79 billion in remittances in the first 24 days of May, while it received $1.55 billion in the first 24 days of April.
Of the $1.79 billion, $191.28 million came through state-owned banks, $1.58 billion via private banks, $8.52 million through specialised banks, and $5.80 million through foreign banks.
Bankers expect the remittance inflows to reach $2.0 billion by the end of May, ahead of Eid al-Adha.
They said expatriates usually send more remittances on the occasion of special festivals.
