Renowned actress Rista Laboni Shimana, who was on life support at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital, has died at the age of 39.
The actress breathed her last at the BSMMU around 6:00 am on Tuesday, her younger brother Ejaz Bin Ali confirmed to local media.
She left behind her husband, two sons and many well-wishers to mourn her death.
On May 20, Shimana was admitted to a private hospital in Dhanmondi, where it was discovered that she had a brain haemorrhage.
On May 21, she was transferred to another hospital in Dhanmondi for better treatment.
On 27 May, she underwent brain surgery at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in the Agargaon area in the capital.
Initially, she was kept in the ICU, but since Wednesday (29 May), she has been on life support.
Shimana began her career in the entertainment industry in 2006, gaining recognition through the Lux-Channel i Superstar competition. She also worked in Tauquir Ahmed's film "Daruchini Dwip".
