Six fishermen have been abducted from the Naf river in Teknaf upazila of of Cox's Bazar by the Arakan Army, a rebel group in the Rakhine State of Myanmar.
The rebel group also seized two trawlers from the river around 6:0 pm on Monday, Teknaf-Saint Martin's Trawler Owners Association President Abdur Rashid confirmed the matter on Wednesday, as per media reports.
Rashid said two trawlers, loaded with bricks, sand and cement from Teknaf, left for St. Martin on Monday afternoon. But due to low tide in the Naf river, the trawlers anchored on Shapuree Island.
On Tuesday, they left for Saint Martin via the Naf River. Arakan Army captured the fishermen from the river, he added.
The matter has been informed to the relevant authorities.
