Bangladesh bundled out New Zealand for 134 runs in the three-match T20 International series opener at McLean Park in Napier on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto sent New Zealand into bat first. Pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib makes his T20 debut for Bangladesh, having shown his credential in the ODI circuit. He was key in Bangladesh's maiden ODI victory against Black Caps at then own den.
According to UNB, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam led the charge with a three-wicket haul for just 26 runs, while Mahedi Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with two wickets each.
Shoriful tore into the New Zealand top order in his opening spell, picking up two wickets in successive deliveries. Mahedi Hasan added another in the first over, leaving the Black Caps reeling at three for two early on.
James Neesham was the lone bright spot for the hosts, smashing 48 off 29 balls in a valiant attempt to accelerate the scoring. However, Mustafizur Rahman put an end to his aggressive knock, restricting New Zealand in a chasable total.
Captain Mitchell Santner chipped in with 23, but the Kiwis ultimately struggled to build significant partnerships.
Bangladesh will be looking to capitalize on their bowling momentum and secure their first T20I win against New Zealand on Kiwi soil.
