Bangladesh in touch with both Myanmar govt and Arakan Army: Home advisor

Bangladesh has been in communication with both the Myanmar government and the Arakan Army over the border situation, Home Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Monday. 

While visiting the Teknaf border area in Cox’s Bazar, he said the entire 271-kilometre border between Bangladesh and Myanmar is controlled by the Arakan Army, while Myanmar's government manages the rest of the country. 

Mr Chowdhury added that Bangladesh must engage with both parties due to the ongoing situation.
