A Bangladeshi man, Mohammad Mokul Hossain (34), was charged with the murder of another Bangladesh citizen in Malaysia on Tuesday.

The suspect is accused of killing Hossen Md Monowar, another Bangladeshi citizen, in the Hulu Perak district of Malaysia two weeks ago. The body of Monowar was found in a banana plantation in the town of Lenggong on September 8.

However, Malaysian newspaper Malay Mail said, Mokul Hossain did not understand the charge read against him in the Malay language.

The court fixed October 20 for the appointment of an interpreter for the accused.

The Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Kangsar, a royal town in the Malaysian state of Perak, did not record the confessional statement as murder cases are under the purview of the High Court of the country.
