A Bangladeshi woman was allegedly raped and then murdered recently in Indian state of Karnataka, according to an Indian news outlet.
Hindustan Times said the body of the 28-year-old woman was found with severe head injuries caused by a boulder near Kalkere Lake in Ramamurthy, a suburb in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru on Friday.
“Her body was discovered in a deserted area on Friday morning by locals, who immediately alerted the police,” the newspaper said, citing law enforcers.
Police said the initial investigations suggested that she was raped and then murdered.
The woman, who worked as a housemaid in an apartment, was reportedly on her way home on Thursday when the incident occurred, the law enforcers said.
The victim was married to a cleaning worker and lived in the city with her husband, who holds a valid passport and entered the country on a medical visa, and three children.
Her husband filed a missing person complaint at the Ramamurthy Nagar police station on Thursday as she didn’t return home from work station on that day.
Local police station officials said they have launched investigation into the incident.
