The Dhaka International Diagnostic Medical Equipment Expo 2025 began on Thursday at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre, aiming to attract healthcare investment and promote modern medical technology.

Jointly organised by the Bangladesh Private Hospital, Clinic, Diagnostic Owners Association (BPHCDOA) and Eco Expo, the three-day event brings together nearly 250 companies from seven countries.

Organisers expect around 10,000 visitors by the time the event concludes on April 19.

Dr Md Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the expo. He urged stronger regulation and private sector responsibility, calling for a unified law for all medical colleges, accreditation oversight for both public and private sectors, and categorised licensing based on facility standards.

“Health and treatment are two different sectors,” he said. “Private institutions lead in treatment, but public health standards remain a key concern.”

Dr Rahman also pushed for free treatment under CSR initiatives and better emergency healthcare services. He warned that poor liquid waste management in medical facilities was causing serious environmental harm and called on stakeholders to act ethically.

Other speakers included Dr A M Shamim of LabAid, Moinul Ahsan, Dr Khandaker Rahat Hossain, Dr Gazi Mizanur Rahman, Md Zakir Hossain Nayon, and Rezaur Rahman of Eco Expo.
