Eid-ul-Azha: Advance train ticket sales to begin on May 21

The authorities of Bangladesh Railway will start selling train tickets in advance through an online system from May 21 ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Considering June 7 as the tentative date for the second largest religious festival of Muslims, holidaymakers will be able to purchase the tickets of May 31 to June 6 from May 21 to 27 under the special arrangement.

Tickets for May 31 will be sold on May 21; tickets for June 1 will be sold on May 22; tickets for June 2 will be sold on May 23; tickets for June 3 will be sold on May 24; tickets for June 4 will be sold on May 25; tickets for June 5 will be sold on May 26; and tickets for June 6 will be sold on May 27.

Besides, the tickets for the return journey will be sold online from May 30 and continue till June 5. Holidaymakers will purchase tickets for June 9 to 15 period during that time.

Tickets for June 9 will be sold on May 30; tickets for June 10 will be sold on May 31; tickets for June 11 will be sold on June 1; tickets for June 12 will be sold on June 2; tickets for June 13 will be sold on June 3; tickets for June 14 will be sold on June 4; and tickets for June 15 will be sold on June 5.

Tickets for the western zone will be made available from 8:00 am, and the tickets for the eastern zone will be made public from 2:00 pm every day.

Meanwhile, five pairs of special trains will run from Jun 4e to June 9 to accommodate the holiday rush on Chattogram–Chandpur, Dhaka–Dewanganj, Bhairab Bazar–Kishoreganj, Mymensingh–Kishoreganj and Joydebpur–Parbatipur routes.

Besides, a special train will run on the day of Eid-ul-Azha to transport pilgrims Sholakia Eidgah, the large Eid congregation, in Kishoreganj.

The railway will run three special trains for the transportation of sacrificial animals from Dewanganj Bazar and Islampur to Dhaka on June 2, 3, and 4.
