FE Special Correspondent Doulat Akter Mala elected ERF president

Doulat Akter Mala, a special correspondent of The Financial Express, has been elected the president of the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) for a two-year term.
She got 114 votes out of a total of 197 cast by members of the country's largest platform of financial journalists. Her contestant, incumbent ERF president and The Daily Star Senior Correspondent Mohammad Refayet Ullah Mirdha, bagged 82 votes in the election held on Friday.
Abul Kashem, a special correspondent of The Business Standard, has been elected the general secretary for the 2025-26 term, securing 93 votes and Md Ashraful Alam (101 votes) elected vice president.
The election was followed by the biannual general meeting, where members unanimously accepted reports of the general secretary and finance secretary of the executive committee.
Aminul Islam (101 votes) of Daily Bartanman has secured berth in the 2025-26 committee as the finance secretary, Bangladesh Pratidin Senior Correspondent Manik Muntasir (126 votes) as the assistant general secretary, and Sk Shfayat Hossain as ICT and training secretary (uncontested).
The four elected members are ASM Moinul Haque (127 votes) Ibrahim Hossain Ovi (97 votes), Kayes Mohammad Sohel (107 votes) and Md Jakir Hussain (107 votes).
National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz was the chief election commissioner and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, and senior journalist Syed Abdal Ahmed were the election commissioners.
