Fire breaks out in Mohakhali's Sat Tola slum

Firefighters are battling a fire that broke out at the Sat Tola slum in Mohakhali area of Dhaka.

Eight firefighting units were dispatched to the scene after the incident was reported at 2:37pm on Wednesday, according to Fire Service spokesman Anowarul Islam.

Three units are already at the scene, he said.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage were not immediately known, reports bdnews24.com.

Videos shared on social media showed flames ripping through part of the densely populated settlement, with thick black smoke rising high into the sky and visible from afar.
