The Anti-discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens’ Committee have announced a joint nationwide public relations campaign from Jan 6 to Jan 11.
They announced the programme at a press conference at the central office of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement on Saturday at 11:30am, reports bdnews24.com.
At the press conference, Hasnat Abdullah, the chief of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, said that the two organisations believe that the implementation and announcement of the July Revolution Proclamation is an important moment in the nation and its history.
He said that every class of people in Bangladesh had participated in this uprising and expressed his hope that the wishes and aspirations of the people will be reflected in the declaration.
Hasnat said that they will hold public relations events across the country over the five days, "At this time, we will distribute leaflets, hold rallies and conduct public relations at various levels. What are the hopes and aspirations of the people of Bangladesh? What do they want to see in this proclamation? We will go to the people to hear them."
"We will conduct public relations simultaneously in all educational institutions across the country, in every district and Upazila of the country, among students, citizens, farmers, workers and people from all walks of life demanding this declaration."
At this time, Nasiruddin Patwari, convener of the National Citizens’ Committee, said: “The government's activities in formulating this declaration are not yet visible. If the government does not take immediate action in this regard, strict programmes will be called.”
He called on everyone to unite in formulating the July Revolution Proclamation to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people.
Nasiruddin also said, “There has been a positive response and cooperation from all political parties in formulating the declaration. Although there are some differences in viewpoints, the work of formulating the declaration is underway based on everyone's opinions.”
