High Court to deliver verdict on foreign deal for Chattogram Port on Dec 4

The High Court has set Dec 4 for announcing the verdict on a petition challenging the legality of the ongoing process of signing an agreement with a foreign company to operate the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chattogram Port.
The bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Fatema Anwar set the date for the verdict on Tuesday after completing the hearing on the rule issued in the writ petition.
Senior lawyers AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Ahsanul Karim, and Kayser Kamal argued for the petition. Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman and Additional Attorney General Anik R Haque represented the state.
Mirza Walid Hossain, president, Bangladesh Young Economists Forum, filed the petition. The respondents in the case include the secretary of the shipping ministry, the chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority, and the chief executive officer of the PPP Authority.
