Independent candidate’s agent found dead with injury marks on forehead

A 35-year-old man was found dead with wounds of sharp weapons on his forehead and face near his residence in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali on Saturday night, according to local news portals.
The deceased, Shaheduzzaman Palash, was a polling agent of defeated independent candidate Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan in the Noakhali-2 constituency in the last parliamentary elections held on January 7, 2024. Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan is a local leader of the ruling Awami League. He independently contested in the polls with the electoral symbol scissor.
Shaheduzzaman’s neighbours spotted his soaked body and informed the local police station. Later, police recovered the body around 11:30 pm on Sunday.
Police said they have launched an investigation into the incident.
