The 'Long March to Dhaka' programme called by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement to press for their one-point demand – the resignation of the government -- is being observed on Monday (August 5).

Organisers have urged protesters from all over the country to join the programme and march to Dhaka.

The Anti-discrimination Student Movement earlier announced new two-day programmes – women’s and workers’ rallies on Monday (August 5) and 'Long March to Dhaka' on Tuesday (August 6).

However, amid countrywide violence during the non-cooperation movement on Sunday, the long march programme was brought forward a day to Monday.

Asif Mahmud, the coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, announced the change in the programme in a statement sent to the media on Sunday (August 4) afternoon.

As per the previous programmes, the protesters were supposed to unveil Shaheed memorial plaques in memory of the quota movement martyrs across the country on Monday and organize a workers' rally at Shahbagh at 11 am and a women's rally at Shahbagh at 5 pm.
