Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari will resume classes at a limited scale from Sunday as the institution attempts to overcome the horror and grief of the jet crash on the campus that took the lives of several students and teachers.

Initially, classes and exams will only be held for students in grades 9-12, school authorities said. Lower grades will take another week off.

Milestone School and College spokesman Shah Bulbul said, "Our academic activities will resume from Sunday. However, it will take a week for classes to resume fully because the schoolchildren are still in a state of trauma. The accident mainly occurred in the school section of the institution,” according to a bdnews24.com report.

"So, for now, classes for grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 will resume. Then the school section will reopen gradually."

Asked about how many students are still missing since the disaster, he said that an official count would be provided by the institution soon.

Accurate information regarding those injured, dead, and missing will be released around noon, Bulbul said.

In addition, how many people, including members of the Armed Forces, were affected can be provided by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he added.

On Monday afternoon, a training fighter jet of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into the campus. According to the government count, 29 people – mostly children – have been killed in the crash while 57 others are currently hospitalised with injuries.
