Bangladesh's mobile and internet subscriptions registered slight growth in June 2025 after several months of decline, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The number of internet subscribers rose to 133.61 million in June, reflecting a 1.22 per cent increase from 132 million in May. This growth was driven mainly by mobile internet users, whose numbers increased to 119.29 million from 117.68 million, a rise of 1.37 per cent.
However, fixed internet connections through Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) lines remained unchanged at 14.32 million for the third consecutive month.
Despite the monthly gain, the total number of internet subscribers remained lower than the recent peak of 141.05 million recorded in July 2024.
Mobile phone subscriptions also saw a slight increase, rising to 188.45 million in June from 187.61 million in May-an increase of 0.45 per cent. Grameenphone, the country's largest mobile operator, added 0.34 million new subscribers in June, taking its total to 86.51 million.
Robi Axiata followed with 57.40 million users, up from 56.98 million the previous month. Banglalink added 0.07 million users, reaching 37.95 million, while Teletalk's subscriber base edged up by 0.01 million to 6.59 million.
