Motion tabled in West Bengal Assembly over harassment of Bengali speakers across India

West Bengal Assembly has taken up a motion addressing growing harassment of Bengali-speaking people in other Indian states.

The initiative was moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay and accepted by Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay.

The motion will be discussed on Tuesday and Thursday, with two-hour sessions each day.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may participate in the final day’s debate, according to India’s Anandabazar Patrika.
