The Bangladesh Bank is set to release fresh banknotes in the coming weeks, commemorating the national heroes.
Sources at the central bank said the printing process has already been completed.
A specimen of the new Tk100 note, featuring a portrait of Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq, was obtained by The Financial Express on Tuesday evening.
In December last year, central bank officials indicated that new banknotes in denominations of Tk20, Tk100, Tk500, and Tk1000 were being printed as per instructions from the interim government.
The Bangladesh Bank routinely collects and destroys old banknotes, issuing new ones as part of its currency management operations.
Due to heightened demand for new banknotes during religious festivals, the central bank, for the first time this year, did not circulate fresh notes.
