Woman killed after being hit by unidentified vehicle on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

A woman was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur on Thursday.

The identity of the victim, aged approximately 45, could not be known yet.

The accident took place in the Kutubpur Munshir Bazar area of Shibchar in the morning. Locals found the woman lying in a pool of blood on the expressway and informed police.

Later, she was rushed to the Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.

Zahirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shibchar Highway Police Station, said the woman was found in critical condition on the expressway’s Dhaka-bound lane. “She died before reaching the hospital,” he said, adding that preliminary investigation suggests she may have been struck while attempting to cross the road.

An investigation is underway to identify the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding the accident, said the OC.
