The Chevening Scholarship is the UK Government’s prestigious international scholarship program. Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations, this scholarship provides fully-funded opportunities for individuals to pursue a one-year master’s degree at any accredited UK university.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  • Commit to returning to their home country for at least two years after completing the scholarship.
  • Have a minimum of two years (2,800 hours) of work experience.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree that meets the entry requirements for a UK master’s program.
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and receive an unconditional offer from at least one by the deadline.

Ineligibility Criteria:

  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (except for citizens of British Overseas Territories or those applying from Hong Kong under BN(O)).
  • Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening-eligible country. However, those with refugee status in an eligible country may still apply.
  • Are an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of the UK government, British Embassies/High Commissions, the British Council, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, or sponsoring UK universities. Exceptions apply to Chevening Partner organizations, with restrictions if employment was within the last two years.
  • Have previously studied in the UK on a UK government-funded scholarship.

Having a master’s degree does not disqualify you from applying for a second master’s degree, provided you can demonstrate how it aligns with your career goals and contributes to positive change in your home country.
