Eligibility Criteria for the University of Waterloo Scholarships

Here is the list of eligibility criteria for the University of Waterloo Scholarships; applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Required Languages: English
  • Eligible Countries: All over the world
  • Applicants having a good academic record, a minimum 70% average at the Bachelor level, and normally a minimum 75% average at the graduate level are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
  • The Applying student must be a full-time Bachelor, Master, or PhD student in any faculty who wish to participate in an international experience in Israel, including a minimally-paid, a volunteer placement, an academic exchange, or a study related to academic requirements.
  • International students have valid Canadian study permits registered full-time, and are assessed international tuition fees.
  • Most scholarships are for research-based programs (thesis or major research paper).
  •  The scholarship is mostly given to students entering the first term of their program (term 1.0).
  • Applicants must meet academic excellence through criteria established by the Faculty.
  • Applicants must meet the academic progress requirements of their program and not have outstanding probationary admission requirements.
  • This scholarship could be in addition to other internal or external scholarships (e.g., UW Graduate Scholarship, OGS,  etc.). Need to know that scholarships are different from sponsorship
  • Normally, students should not be concurrently receiving foreign government or agency sponsorship (e.g., China Scholarship Council, Libyan sponsorship, etc.) or be fully or partially self-funded more than the Faculty minimum levels of support.
  • Applicants grand-parented under the existing IMSA program cannot be nominated for an IMAE; however, a student previously awarded an IMSA for a previously completed master’s degree can be nominated for an IMAE.
