Role: Research Officer (Adv#85/2024)

Job Responsibilities: 

• Perform regular project activities including sample processing, laboratory data generation, data analysis, visualization, and report writing based on project requirements.
• Maintain proper documentation following ISO 17025 guidelines and maintain the inventory for biological samples and reagents/chemicals.
• Isolate Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) from whole human blood for cellular immunological study.
• Perform a PBMC culture to measure the cytokines released in the cell culture supernatant.
• Flow cytometry for immunophenotyping immune cells (specifically T cells, B cells, and macrophages).
• Measure cytokine using advanced Luminex/ ELISA technique.
• Extract DNA and RNA from whole blood and stool and synthesize cDNA to measure immune modulatory gene expression using quantitative RT-PCR.
• Conduct DNA/RNA sequencing, quantification by fluorometric method/spectrophotometric measurement, whole genome data processing and analysis, pipeline development, and 16S rRNA metagenomic data processing and analysis.
• Prepare a manuscript to publish in a peer-reviewed journal.
• Train junior staff on laboratory tests and bio-safety rules.
• Assist the Principal Investigator in generating new research ideas and developing research proposals and protocols.

Requirements: 

• M Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Genetics from any reputed University.
• At least 3 years of experience in relevant laboratory research. Previous experience in the field of Guillain-Barré syndrome/ other autoimmune disorders/ neurodegenerative disorders will get preference. 
• Biostatistics knowledge on SPSS, R, GraphPad Prism, STATA, and Specialized software knowledge on Flowjo, Linux OS, Python, Anaconda/Miniconda, and Bioconductor are required.

Job Location: Mohakhali, Dhaka. 

Salary: 59,900 BDT.
