This festival is organised by 'Dhwani', a recital organisation based at the university's Teacher-Student Center (TSC).
The festival commenced on Monday, September 18, at 11 am with a joyous procession starting from the foot of the Amar Ekushey Sculpture. Various productions are going to be held at the Selim Al Deen Amphitheatre of the university until September 22.
On the festival's second day (September 19), fiction writer, researcher, and essayist Akimun Rahman received an honorable mention. Recitalist Mahmuda Akhter and poet-journalist Shimul Salahuddin presented solo performances. 'Dhwani' also showcased a performance titled 'Tomar Amar Ei Juddho Khetre,' written and directed by Mahajabin Sauda Jahan, an activist of 'Dhwani.' The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nurul Alam, was present as the chief guest.
On the third day (September 20), a memorial reading and a moment of silence will be observed in memory of poet Mohammad Rafiq at Selim Al Deen Muktamancha. Poet Mohammad Rafiq's younger brother Mohammad Tarek and poet, reciter, and news anchor Farzana Karim will participate in this event.
On this day, the Stamford University Literary Forum will present a production titled 'Payer Awaz Pawa Jay.' In addition, reciters Masuduzzaman and Biplab Saha will participate in reciting poems and awarding certificates to new members of 'Dhwani.' The University's Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Sheikh Md. Monjurul Huq, will be present.
On the concluding day of the festival (September 22), the curtain will come down with a 'reunion' of fresh and old members of 'Dhwani.'
It's worth noting that the recitation organisation 'Dhwani' has been dedicated to pursuing excellence in recitation, poetry, and oratory for 26 years, adhering to the slogan 'Digonte Cholo Shobdo Jethay Surjo Sotyo.'
The organisation organises various recitation festivals, workshops, and training sessions every year to promote and propagate recitation practice. As a part of this effort, they have organised this recitation festival in memory of the recently deceased poet Mohammad Rafiq.
