The University of Hamburg is a public research university in Hamburg, Germany.
The University of Hamburg Scholarships in Germany is inviting international applicants to apply for its merit scholarships program. Students from all nationalities and non-German citizens alike are welcome to apply for these coveted Hamburg scholarships.
University of Hamburg Scholarships 2023-2024 Benefits:
- The maximum funding per month available to doctoral researchers is EUR 850. If there are sufficient funds, they could receive merit scholarships of up to 11,000 EUR per month (approximately three scholarships can be granted per cycle).
- Merit scholarships are granted for two months (a total of twelve). If there is good cause to believe your case is exceptional, funding can be extended up to three years.
University of Hamburg Scholarships 2023-2024 Eligibility Criteria:
- Excellent to outstanding academic performance
- Other knowledge and abilities which can be verified (e.g. presentations/publications, prizes for special skills).
- Previous funding or confirmation of volunteering Activities.
- The need or social circumstances of the applicant.
- You have been enrolled in your field at University Hamburg for at least two semesters and are working towards an academic degree (students enrolled in master’s programs that last two years, as well as doctoral researchers, may apply after one semester has been completed);
- Do not hold German citizenship;
- They are ineligible for the federal student loan program.
Application Procedure For University of Hamburg Scholarships 2023-2024:
The initial step in applying for Hamburg Merits scholarships is enrolling in a degree course at the university. After that, click on the links that correspond with your selected deadline (you’ll need to sign in using your STiNE ID):

Once registered, you will be invited to complete your application.

- Letter of Motivation (Please use this form in PDF format).
- Evidence of cultural and/or social activities (if applicable)
- Achievements record Keep track of achievements with STiNE printout or listing course certificates; doctoral students and master’s students must complete their certificates.
Required Documents For For University of Hamburg Scholarships 2023-2024:
- Before the application deadline, please submit proof of your residency permit in writing to your program manager via email. As the access to the University Administration building remains restricted, documents must be sent via email; unfortunately, these documents will not be stored and are permanently removed after viewing.
- If you do not have the legal capacity to reside in your country (e.g., due to EU citizenship or another reason), contact the program's coordinator for further assistance.
