Can you imagine a whole day without electricity?

One fine morning, you find yourself wandering through a barren desert, your throat parched and your body weary. Suddenly, you spot a shimmering oasis in the distance, beckoning. With renewed hope, you quicken your pace, only to discover it's a cruel trick of the mind.

And then you wake up thirsty and craving water and find out the halted fan above you. It took you a few seconds to understand why you had the scorching heat dream.

No, this time your mother didn't turn off the fan, there's no electricity.

Upon having no options left, you had to wake up at 6 am, whereas you were about to sleep until 9 am.

The unbearable heat of the scorching sun heats you like a wave, causing beads of sweat to form on your face and body. Being already in a bad mood, you know it will be a hard day without electricity.

By 7, when you were on the verge of losing your mind, you heard your stomach growling. Rushing to the kitchen to have some tea or coffee, you see your electric cattle or oven disowning you. Obviously, there's no electricity, and you must manually prepare your food.

Lighting up the gas stove and gulping down food, you noticed that it became a normal bottle of room temperature water when you wanted to have your bottle of chilled water.

By 8 am, the temperature has risen exponentially, and you can feel the discomfort settling in. Without a functioning fan or air conditioning, you seek refuge by opening the windows and inviting the little breeze into your home. The hot air swirls around you, reminding you of the absence of modern comforts

By 10, when the mighty sun is at its peak, the lack of electricity begins to take its toll. You reach out to your phone to check the messages and to put a status of this heat, but having no WiFi, you have to purchase a data pack.

And to give you a mini heart attack, your phone is almost dying with only 17 per cent charge left. The absence of a charged device means no social media, no internet, and limited communication.

Without social media, your phone is just a calculator that can call and click pictures. It's a stark reminder of how heavily reliant we have become on technology and how disconnected we are without it.

By 10 am, the sun is at its peak, and you reach for your phone, hoping to connect with the outside world, only to find that its battery has drained completely. The absence of a charged device means you are completely desolated and disconnected.

With 1 pm rolling around, you are wishing and yearning for a moment to get rid of this unrelenting heat. But in the meantime, you made some 'haatpakha' things with your books, slides, or newspaper to beat the heat. Result? Aches in hand.

Going to the kitchen to help your mother cook, and you all have fun cooking together and enjoy quality time. When you are drowned with excessive sweating, you rush to bathe for the second time, only to discover a thin line of water is running through the tap.

It makes you think of using water more efficiently. The cool water cascades over your body, providing a brief respite from the sweltering temperatures outside.

As time passes by, there's a possibility of food getting spoiled in the fridge. The absence of electricity has turned it into a ticking time bomb. You plan to consume perishable edible items with no choices left to reduce wastage.

A race against time to salvage what you can. By 6 pm, when you are done having quality time with family, you are up for going to your neighbourhood to meet them. The world feels smaller, and you are reminded of the importance of face-to-face interactions and finding joy in the simplicity of offline activities.

You gather with your family/friends, engage in conversation, play board games, or simply enjoy each other's company without the distractions of the digital world.

When darkness envelops your home, candles are lit to cast a warm and intimate glow, and you reminisce about the good old simpler time.

The absence of electric lights creates a nostalgic ambience, reminding you of childhood. With no WiFi, you find yourself disconnected from the virtual world but connected to the present moment and the people around you.

And to your utter wonder, the whole city is drowned in a moonlit night, and the starry night gives you goosebumps.

You lie down, gazing at the stars through the window, grateful for the lack of city lights that allow the night sky to shine brightly. It's a moment of tranquillity and reflection where you realise the beauty that can be found in the absence of electricity.

And suddenly you heard your neighbours screaming. What happened? Yes, the electricity is back, and since you didn't turn on the lights previously, you weren't aware.

Would a day without electricity give you realisations of mental peace and personal attachment out from the virtual world like this?
