AR Rahman, the Academy Award-winning composer, has been discharged from a hospital in Chennai after being treated for dehydration.

Rahman, 58, was admitted to Apollo Hospital on Sunday morning after experiencing weakness, according to his son, AR Ameen. In a statement posted on Instagram, Ameen reassured fans that his father was recovering well.

“To all our dear fans, family, and well-wishers, I sincerely thank you for your love, prayers, and support,” he said.

“My father felt a bit weak due to dehydration, but I'm happy to share that he is doing well now. Your kind words and blessings mean a lot to us. We truly appreciate your concern and continued support. Much love and gratitude to you all.”

A spokesperson for Rahman said the composer had returned from London on Saturday night and was admitted to the hospital after experiencing dehydration and neck pain.

The spokesperson dismissed reports that he had been hospitalised with chest pain as “false rumours”.

Apollo Hospital’s chief executive officer confirmed Rahman’s discharge late Sunday, saying he was in good health.

Rahman, who gained international recognition for his score in “Slumdog Millionaire”, performed with British singer Ed Sheeran in Chennai last month.

He is currently composing music for the film “Tere Ishq Mein”.
