Meher Afroz Shaon held over alleged conspiracy against state

Popular actor and producer Meher Afroz Shaon was arrested on Thursday night.

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested her in connection with allegations of conspiring against the state, Additional DMP Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallik said.

Ms Shaon was arrested from Dhanmondi area of the capital and is now being taken to the DB office for interrogation, he said.

The actress is expected to be produced before a court on Friday, where police will seek remand for further questioning, Mallik added.

No further details were immediately available regarding the specific case or charges against Ms Shaon.
