Remember two things. Number one is, 'The name is Harun. OC Harun.'
Though it sounds like 'Bond, James Bond', our OC Harun is neither Bond nor is so-called heroic, who fights with villains in artistic action sequences. OC Harun is just another Bengali police officer who is one effective Shaman inside the attire of ghosts in the system.
Those who have previously watched OC Harun in Mohanogar season 1 are familiar with the charisma of his character. After a drastic move against Afnan Chowdhury in the first season, he was put into the cage by some highly authorised intelligence agency on the basis of the complaint filed by his fellow SI Moloy. The journey of Mohanogor 2 starts here.
Apparently, the second season's story can be said to be a mix of a prequel and a sequel. There is a past story of OC Harun and, simultaneously, the happenings at the intelligence office.
Approximately two years ago, in Shakharipur thana, OC Harun once failed to give security during a public political meeting. Now, did he do it willingly? Or was there someone else behind that massive blast?
As his defence, that he was not in any way related to the blast, OC Harun had one prime suspect captured, Masum. Now, is Masum actually the criminal? Or is he just a victim of the system?
Besides searching for this answer, the series also moves forward with Afnan Chowdhury, who desperately seeks Zara, the lady who was about to file a rape case against him. Can OC Harun stop him and bring him under the umbrella of law? At the same time, can he prove himself innocent? Can he survive this high-protocol intelligence storm?
As previously said, OC Harun is a Shaman in a system full of political ghosts. If one has to clear a system, he must be a part of it. OC Harun is doing nothing except that.
Apparently, his doings seem wrong; he looks corrupted with bare eyes; what else can an official like him do? He cannot directly oppose the system because then he will not be able to survive.
Apart from this on-screen hero, OC Harun, there is another hero there, Ashfaque Nipun, the mastermind of Mohanagar. What did he not bring into this series that the citizens of Mohanagar have experienced?
Extrajudicial killing? Yes, it is there. Political cat and mouse play? Yes, it is there. Capturing people without any legal proof? Trafficking criminals to save them? Abusing and blackmailing women? Violence to a specific gender? Misuse of state-given power? Yes, yes, all of these scenarios are there, making Mohanagar S02 the most relatable series ever created in Bangladesh.
To be a good content, is a good story with mind-blowing twists and turns enough? Yes, maybe. But Nipun did not take any risk, keeping no insufficiency in the casting. Like the previous season, Mosharraf Karim is in and as OC Harun, and he just nails it with his performance.
But this time, he has got the most worthy opponent against him, Fazlur Rahman Babu, one of the living legends of acting in Bangladesh. The cold war between them simply gets on the audience's nerves.
Shyamol Mawla, as Afnan Chowdhury, was marvellous. Dibya Jyoti, in the character of Masum, delivered an extraordinary performance. To compete with him in acting, his own father, Brindaban Das, was present there.
Sukumar Barua, along with maintaining a serious character, successfully provided enough comic relief for the viewers. Besides, the charms of Afsana Mimi are still bright! Tanzika Amin, as Masum’s sister, was magnificent. And in the last scene, with red, scary eyes, Anirban Bhattacharya is surely going to be the biggest surprise for the audience. It is now the talk of the town how this duel between Mosharraf Karim and Anirban Bhattacharya will go in Mohanagar season 3.
As the cherry on top, Hoichoi has already announced the third season of the series. What could be better than this?
The second thing from the first line has been left unsaid. Well, the second thing is, "OC Harun can never be defeated!"
