In today's fast-paced world, where we often interact more through social media than in person, restaurants and cafes have become the most popular spots for get-togethers and hangouts. They offer a convenient and comfortable alternative in a city with limited parks and open spaces.

They provide a welcoming atmosphere where people can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether catching up with friends, enjoying a family dinner, or having a casual business meeting, these dining spots provide the perfect setting. Who doesn't love good music and good food? The dining experience is more memorable when you hum your favourite song while spending time with your loved ones. If the music in the restaurant is performed live rather than from a recording, the entire experience is elevated.

Numerous cafes and restaurants exist in and around Dhaka. They provide the same facilities. However, adding live music adds something new and makes them unique.

The idea of music cafes is becoming increasingly popular. People love the combination of good food and fantastic live music, enhancing their dining experience. If the restaurant has live music, this adds another dimension to the whole experience.

As customers enjoy their meals, the melodies of live bands or solo musicians fill the air, adding an extra layer of enjoyment. These cafes and restaurants often promote local musicians and artists. Abir Mumtaz, a BBA graduate, feels music cafes have the best combination of perfect recreation. "Who doesn't love to listen to the songs of LRB, Miles, or Arnob while having their favourite coffee or pasta? I love going to music cafes to enjoy my evenings with my friends. It takes away all the hardships I do in a week," says Abir.

However, only some of the music cafes are well-maintained in terms of sound quality. So, sometimes, it becomes a reason for discomfort as well. Neelima Jahan, a music enthusiast and a housewife, also finds music cafes a bit loud. She says, "Some music cafes in Dhaka are open in a small space. So, when a singer starts singing and the drummers hit their drums, it becomes too noisy. I have to take a back seat to avoid this loud. Music cafes are pleasurable, but they must also be well-maintained."

Asma-Ul-Husna Pushon from Rajshahi shares her experience, saying, "Most restaurants only play recorded music, lacking the personal touch of a live singer. Here, we can interact with the musicians, even asking them to perform songs we want to hear. This setting allows for real-time praise and appreciation, creating a more memorable and enjoyable atmosphere." She also added, "The price of the food is relatively higher compared to other restaurants."

Music cafes feature live performances and provide a platform for new talent. Sometimes, enthusiastic individuals without formal music training want to follow their passion for performing and need a platform to showcase their talent. For these beginners, music cafes and restaurants offer unique opportunities. Zubayer Ahmed, a promising musician, finds music cafes useful for his passion. He says, "It helps me to perform well in front of audiences. Also, I started to get paid, which is necessary for survival. I feel good that I earn through my passion." Zubayer studies in BBA at Dhaka College.

Unlike more formal settings, music cafés and restaurants are informal, welcoming a wide range of talent. It also allows these musicians to receive immediate feedback from live audiences.

If you search for music cafes in Dhaka, Google will suggest many places that claim to be music cafes. However, only a few of these restaurants offer live music. Tune and Bite Music Cafe in Wari, Day and Night Music Cafe and Restaurant in Uttara, and Autograph Live Music Cafe in Banasree are worth mentioning.

An evening in a music café restaurant is an experience that nourishes both the body and the soul; it is more than just a meal. Due to the perfect blending of music and food, an average evening may become something genuinely exceptional. Next time you're looking for a place to dine, consider a music café restaurant.
