We don't talk about two actor's bond in a film the way we talk about an actor and actress's bond. But it's high time we started appreciating two screen actors who bring the best out of the other person.
The 28th of April was the death anniversary of one of the most beloved Bollywood actors, Irrfan Khan. Although he lives in our minds rent-free all the time, on the day of his demise, we just couldn't stop thinking of the characters he played all over those years.
They made an extraordinary place in our hearts, and we can see actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui peeping with Irfan. The unique pairing of these two talented actors in a film made it more unforgettable.
Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, both immensely talented actors, have shared the screen in notable films. Remember Irrfan Khan's most beloved character in the movie 'The Lunchbox (2013)', directed by Ritesh Batra?
Irrfan Khan's portrayal of Saajan Fernandes, a lonely office worker, was filled with subtle depth and showcased his remarkable talent. Similarly, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's portrayal of Shaikh, an earnest and endearing trainee, added another layer of authenticity to the story.
Their on-screen chemistry was palpable, making 'The Lunchbox' a memorable cinematic experience.
In that film, where both exchange words, Saajanan finds peace within the words of Sheikh. While travelling together, Sajaan learned about Sheikh's love stories and how they developed their love in a small chawl. The life story of two different personalities blurs here leaving the viewers content.
Another film where they appeared together is 'New York' (2009), directed by Kabir Khan. While their roles in this film aren't as prominent as in 'The Lunchbox,' their presence adds depth to the storyline. Or we can talk about Irrfan Khan in the titular role of Paan Singh Tomar. The movie narrates the true story of Paan Singh Tomar, an Indian soldier and athlete who later becomes a rebel. Nawazuddin Siddiqui also appears in the film, portraying the character of Gopi, Paan Singh Tomar's fellow soldier and close friend. Irrfan Khan won a national award for the film, and Nawazuddin's performance also garnered much praise.
One of the most underrated films of this pair is 'The Bypass'. It was a crime drama short film in which they both had very few dialogues, but their presence together on screen made it remarkable.
They also appeared together on screen in the film Meridian Lines ( 2013).
During an interview with Hindustan Times, Nawazuddin Siddiqui opened up on his relationship with Irrfan Khan, stating, "He always treated me like a younger brother. And for me also, he was like an elder brother and a mentor. I used to share all my personal and professional problems with him." Nawazuddin Siddiqui's words reflect how much he admires Irrfan like Sheikh used to admire Saajan in The Lunch Box.
