Shah Rukh Khan, mostly known as SRK by fans, has been a Bollywood legend for three decades. Since the 1990s, he has captivated audiences worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on cinema. SRK's acting abilities and charm have made him a famous hero among both men and women.
There is hardly any girl from the 1990s who had not had a crush on SRK. Some of the romantic films in which he played the ideal romantic lead were Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Even after all these years, SRK's extraordinary talent continues to attract audiences.
Revolutionising technology in Bollywood
SRK's films have long used cutting-edge technology to create jaw-dropping visual effects. His work on films such as 'Ra.One,' 'Fan' and 'Zero' have brought never seen before technology into the Indian cinema industry.
In 'Ra.One,' SRK played a video game villain who escaped into the real world. The film's visual effects and captivating plot set a new benchmark for Bollywood. The action scenes in the film, which illustrated how technology could assist storytelling, were a strong sign of SRK's dedication to presenting a larger-than-life experience.
Similarly, SRK starred in 'Fan,' a gripping cat-and-mouse drama about a fan's obsession with his favourite star. The film's CGI worked with the actors' performances to portray the two leads convincingly.
SRK's portrayal of a man with a height constraint in 'Zero' shows his determination to push his art to new heights. The film used excellent visual effects to properly merge SRK's character into the tale.
Pathaan's spectacular CGI effects raised the bar once again. The seamless usage of CGI in the film makes it immersive. Pathaan demonstrates that when superb CGI meets SRK's magnetism, the result is unforgettable.
Far superior to current Bollywood
Undoubtedly, the CGI technology and massive budgets behind films like Ram Setu,
Adipurush, Brahmastra, and Krrish 3 exist. Their lofty ambitions, however, were undermined by the disconcerting crudeness of the CGI they employed. They made a whole crap by relying too much on CGI, which turned 'could be amazing moments' into glaring distractions.
Because of inadequate visual effects, these high-profile films fail to amaze, and their failure should serve as a warning to other producers. Audiences were blown away by Ra.One, a film released in 2011, thanks to its innovative use of VFX.
Even though many other visually amazing films have been released since then, the VFX in Ra.One continues to receive applause.
Even though visual effects have come a long way since Ra.One, today's Bollywood couldn't beat that. After the release of Adipurush, people started ranting and reminiscing Ra.One as a better VFX film.
Shah Rukh Khan has always said that he wants to leave behind his legacy in Bollywood as someone who revolutionised the industry with technology. He and his production house Red Chillies Entertainment have successfully done that so far, giving Indian audiences the taste of world-class VFX.
