'The Glory' season 2 is an entertaining revenge-thriller

The recently finished Netflix drama 'The Glory' is about a woman Moon Dong-eun, played by Song Hye Kyo, who is seeking revenge against her bullies during her school years. It dives into her traumatic life, where we can see the aftermath bullying can have on a person.

The Glory is a complex multilayer drama with an ensemble cast with interconnected storylines. The characters here are well-developed. Each of them has their own secrets and motivation, making a constant shift of emotion. The drama is full of intrigue, deception and dramatic twists and turns. It explores themes of redemption, justice and the consequence of seeking revenge.

The series is divided into two seasons. It is written by popular Korean writer Kim Eun Sook. She has expertly crafted the storyline, making it compelling and timeless for almost all generations. She developed a gripping plot with elements of mystery and thriller. The whole series is produced under Hwa & Dam Pictures, who are known for their popular dramas 'King: Eternal Monarch,' 'The Heirs,' 'Mr. Sunshine,' etc.

The series trembles into phases where Dong-eun relies on her wit rather than strength. She goes after each of her perpetrators and leaves no stone unturned to pay them back. The irony of the whole series is that Dong-eun chronologically gets her revenge on them without getting into things much. She uses one offender against another. Nobody even blinks that it was her who was plotting all these.

Throughout the series, we can see Dong-eun wearing a black full sleeves dress, which she uses to hide her burn scars from bullying. The black theme resonated awfully with her dark life. We get a glimpse of how broken she is. She dwelled in a life where her mother betrayed her twice. This incident broke her the most.

Among all these emotionally draining situations, there was only one glimmer of hope in her life that helped her brighten up, Joo Yeo-jeong, played by Lee do-Hyun. Professionally he is a plastic surgeon who used every means to shine her life with a beam of hope. Their chemistry is something to binge-watch.

The use of violence can be considered an underwhelming part of the series. In many cases, it was unbearable to watch. This can be repulsive for sensitive viewers. Other than that, The Glory is an intriguing and entertaining series to binge-watch.
