The Umbrella Academy season 4: This is close to a great ending

Season 4 of Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, based on Gerard Way's comic of the same name, finally comes to an end. The season brings a level of emotional depth and philosophical complexity that elevated the show to new heights, even as it maintains the distinctive turmoil and character-driven drama that viewers have come to anticipate.

In the earlier season's recap, the Hargreaves siblings were able to stop the apocalypse once again but were stripped of their powers and thrust into a new reality—a new timeline.

The absence of the Sparrow Academy, the presence of Abigail, the mystery woman holding Reginald Hargreeves's hand, Ben at the subway, and Jennifer's identity left a massive question mark in the viewers' minds that is expected to be answered this season.

The secret of the Umbrella's powers is the Marigold—a mysterious compound that Reggie threw into Earth's atmosphere. This is explained as a prologue to this season, forcing them to confront.

In this timeline, the umbrellas don't possess the Marigold. The season starts six years after they enter this latest timeline.

This storyline introduced the multiple-timeline theory and its rifts. Dr. Gene and Dr. Jean Thibedeau were a newly introduced duo, putting parallels with Hazel and Cha Cha. This season's focus was Ben, the tentacle boy, who is the key to understanding all the timelines.

The Hargreeves must stop a catastrophic calamity that threatens the entire cosmos while also dealing with their personal problems.

Regrettably, Netflix's shortened season schedule of six episodes indicates a financial shortfall. The show moves along quickly, although a few story parts seem hurried and need to be developed.

Characters are given limited screen time to develop, which is a disappointment for fans who have grown attached to them.

There were so many plot holes. Story fragments would pop up, like, "Ooh, I'm intrigued to see where this goes," and then things never got explained. This is sad and disappointing.

The finale itself is a divisive element, but it delivered a satisfying closure to the Hargreeves' story while leaving room for interpretation. Ultimately, The Umbrella Academy season 4 may be flawed, but the show's legacy lies not only in its thrilling action sequences and witty dialogue.

There is so much more to say, so much more to complain and rant about, but in the end? This finale was not so disappointing; however, it was a break of trust, a trust that was built for a couple of years with characters that became dear and important.
