Crime thrillers have the magnetic power to pull audiences, and with the nail-biting suspense, unexpected twists, plot and complex characters that will make you go, "I'm pretty sure he is the main villain", but end up getting another as the antagonist.

However, some of the exceptional thrillers needed to get the spotlight or attention they deserved. In this article, let's unveil some criminally unnoticed movies, series, and dramas that deserve a place on every cinephile's watchlist. These will keep you on the edge of your seat with their conflict, surprising twists, and tensions instead of the blood and gruesome scenes of many horror flicks. 

Se7en

We all know about the award-winning movie Parasite, but how many of you knew Bong Joon Ho had already gifted one of the not-so-talked-about underrated neo-noir thrillers in the early 2000s?

In this movie, Kim Hya Ja is having a hard time finding the true killer of a younger girl. Okay, but things get complicated when her son is accused of murder and is mentally unstable. With all the captivating plots, drama, mystery and thrillers, you can give it a shot. This drama sheds light on how far a mother can go to stand for her child to save him. 

Fractured

This 2019 movie, Starring Sam Worthington (Ray) and Lily Rabe as leads, starts with a couple arguing in the car. Their daughter (Peri) interrupts them, saying she needs to use the washroom and that she needs batteries for her music player.

But as soon as they reach the gas station, and having her parents distracted, the daughter somehow gets herself into a deserted construction site.

All of a sudden, she finds herself being threatened by a stray dog, and her father finds her. But when the father throws a rock to scare the dog, unfortunately, his daughter falls into it, and Ray throws a rock to scare the dog. Unfortunately, his daughter falls into the big pit nearby.

When Ray tries to grab Peri, he falls into that pit, too, and hits his head. He soon brings his family to a nearby hospital, and just after the doctors start with the tests, he falls asleep. When he wakes up, to his utter surprise, he finds out that his family has not returned and that the authorities don't have any record of them. Intriguing plot, right?

Oldboy

Old Boy is a neo-noir masterpiece that is mind-blowing in terms of revenge, confinement, and identity. Award-winning director Park Chan Wook never failed to amaze us, and this time, he will do justice to your time. And Choi Min Sik's performance?

It all started when Dae Su was abducted and imprisoned for 15 years without any explanation. After release, he had a relentless quest for revenge but only to get deceit and shocking yet bitter truth.

Nightcrawler

Nightcrawlers start with Lou Bloom, a freelance photojournalist who recently found a lucrative niche in capturing crime scenes. Obsessed with his work, he somehow blurred and crossed the line between observer and participant, leading him to land in a morally questionable world. The protagonist is more like a sociopath, so this movie will surely give you chills. Yes, it's hands-down thought-provoking.
