Monsoons provide relief from the extreme summer heat, but they also provide problems for our eyes. During the monsoon season, the abrupt increase in humidity and damp weather frequently causes a variety of eye issues, from minor irritations to severe infections.

Conjunctivitis is expected during the monsoon season. Redness, itching, and discomfort in the eyes are the result of conjunctival inflammation. Another typical problem is a style, which is a painful red lump on the eyelid caused by clogged oil glands.

Monsoons also trigger dry eyes, often aggravated by air conditioning and prolonged screen time. Rubbing eyes is dangerous, as it could introduce harmful bacteria or viruses. Washing the face and eyes with clean water is a must during this period.

Keeping the environment dry and free of stagnant water helps avoid mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria, which can harm our eyes. Our personal belongings, such as towels and handkerchiefs, should not be shared with anyone. It will help to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

In the case of wearing contact lenses, proper hygiene is required. Clean and disinfect the lenses thoroughly, and avoid wearing them in humid environments or while swimming. However, proper nutrition is equally essential for eye health. Incorporating vitamin and mineral-rich foods like carrots, spinach, and citrus fruits into the diet is necessary. Staying hydrated is equally vital.

Regular eye check-ups during the monsoon season are essential for the early detection of any problems. Immediate consultation with an eye specialist is necessary if someone is experiencing symptoms like discomfort, redness, or changes in vision.

Proper eye care habits and regular health check-ups. Simply following the preventive measures mentioned in this article can avoid many of the common eye problems that tend to emerge during this rainy season.
