These tourist destinations abroad that are cheaper than you thought

When travelling, most Bangladeshis have quite a constrained budget, so they often think of options inside the country. However, some countries near Bangladesh will be quite within the budget for most Bangladeshis.

Kolkata, India

Kolkata is one of the most popular tourist destinations for Bangladeshis due to the proximity of the city to Southwestern Bangladesh as well as the cultural influence the city wields over the entire region of Bengal.

A tour of Kolkata is one of the cheapest one can afford from Bangladesh, and by many accounts, even cheaper than many popular Bangladeshi tourist spots.

Train tickets from Dhaka to Kolkata range from 2500-3400 taka in Maitri Express, the train service jointly run by the governments of Bangladesh and India. The cost is even lower for bus services, but a bit higher if one wants to go on an aeroplane. However, with a budget of only Tk 15,000, you can make the most out of the entire city.

Nepal

Sitting on the foot of the Himalayan mountain range, Nepal has much to offer to Bangladeshi tourists, from the snow-capped mountains to national parks with rich biodiversity and magnificent palaces.

Nepal also is surprisingly within the budget range of most Bangladeshi tourists, with about Tk 35,000 being more than enough for a three days trip to the country.

If you don't travel by aeroplane, the cost will come down further. Nepal's consumer services are also quite cheap compared to Bangladesh, hence leading to a fulfilling experience for Bangladeshi tourists.

Bhutan

Bhutan is another country replicating the natural beauty and ambience to a huge extent and with an identical price. However, unlike Nepal, Bhutan is a Buddhist-majority country; hence one will get the distinct flavour of Tibetan Buddhism with a serene and peaceful mountainous atmosphere by visiting Bhutan.

Bhutan is still cheap for the tourists of Bangladesh but would not remain so in the days to come, as due to LDC graduation, the government of Bhutan has decided to impose a tax on tourists from Bangladesh.

Darjeeling, India

Darjeeling is another place in West Bengal that one should visit if they want to get the ambience of Nepal and Bhutan for an even lower price. A budget of about 18,000 is adequate for a three-night, two-day tour of Darjeeling, and it is a popular destination for tourists of Bangladesh during the winter.
