What else can you do than restaurant hopping and dive into mobile phones?

What fulfils your heart? Do you live just for living or to acquire something? Living your life following trends doesn't satisfy your heart. The lives currently bound in a cycle of hopping and endless scrolling through mobile phones is not what one should settle for. While these activities offer momentary pleasure or distraction, they often leave us feeling unfulfilled. Life has far more to offer if only we dare to explore beyond the screens and trends.

Visiting historical places

Dig your past! Will you? It's the best thing one can do to make the most of their time. Owning your own culture and researching it will fulfil your heart and soul.

Knowing the food cultures, social norms, and social practices of your own country or others is a good investment. Visit museums, watch local theatre, or learn a traditional art form. Every culture tells a story, and every story helps us understand our roots a little more deeply.

Reconnecting with hobbies

Remember writing paragraphs about your hobby? Which was yours? One needs to nourish their hobbies. Because only a three-day meal, work or classes are not life.

With excessive use of technology, people are forgetting human languages. Read books, write often, cook fresh food, and garden vegetables and flowers. Make it a priority and see how it affects your mood.

You can even revive childhood joys, such as painting without reason, dancing without rhythm, and singing without fear. These small acts remind us of who we were before the world told us to rush.

You can try photography as well. Photography can instantly lift both your mood and the person you are taking photos of. It creates memories while developing an art without pressuring.

Play and move

Playing has almost left our lives. Now, barely children are taught what we grew up playing. The local games we used to play in the courtyard or backyard are no longer possible. But indoor games like chess, ludo, badminton, and cricket in the garage or on the rooftop are good options. Sports don't only build the body; they also refresh the mind. Friendly matches among friends or family can bring laughter that no meme can replace.

In-person meet-up

Decades ago, meeting people in person at their homes or surprising them by visiting their offices or universities was the norm. The random adddas were wholesome. Those intimacies among acquaintances are the real ones. Otherwise, talking over Messenger or chatting on WhatsApp is just ordinary. Make time to meet people and catch up on gossip.

Try fitness

Even if you are not a fitness freak, you may try natural exercises that naturally bring positivity to your life. Swimming, meditation, and yoga are among the most relaxing exercises that bring you closer to nature, providing a sense of inner peace and energy. Joining a gym or engaging in freehand exercises is also beneficial for health. The best part of it is doing these activities after your classes or office hours—the timing is ideal. Walking at sunrise or cycling at dusk can help alleviate the burnout we experience from our screens.

Plan trips

There is nothing better than going on trips. Many see it as just roaming around, wasting money, but this is much more. While planning a trip, one has to research, find places, manage money, organise transport, adjust to a new environment, and handle many other tasks. This also develops one's character. Trips also remind us of the vastness of the world beyond our digital windows. Even a short weekend escape can alter your perspective on everyday life.

Volunteer and give back

Another fulfilling way to spend time is through volunteering. Teaching underprivileged children, joining a local clean-up initiative, or contributing to community projects can be incredibly rewarding. These acts connect us to people and causes bigger than ourselves, reminding us that joy multiplies when shared.

Online courses that can help you

Even when we are working, we are using laptops and mobile phones. So, when you are so obsessed with your gadgets, why not take advantage? The internet is brimming with online courses—paid or free—that help you learn a new skill. The word "skill" might sound technical, but every new ability is a door to self-confidence. Learn photography, storytelling, coding, or cooking; the options are limitless.

Learning new things like AI tools or a language!

90s kids remember the teenage serial Shakalaka Boom Boom, where a magic pencil brought drawings to life. AI feels just like that. With the right prompt, you can design, create, or analyse within seconds. AI tools are transforming work, art, and learning. Mastering them isn't about keeping up with trends—it's about staying curious about the future.

In the same way, learning a language is easy with the internet in your hands. You can learn to write and practice speaking through different popular apps. This is one of the best uses of mobile phones while you're in traffic, waiting for a doctor's appointment, or standing at a station. Every new word opens a new world.

Life isn't meant to be consumed through screens or spent waiting in café queues. It's meant to be lived with curiosity, effort, and joy. So, log out sometimes—not from the internet, but from the rush. Step into real life. It's waiting for you.
