If you take a rickshaw ride in the evening, roaming around the city, and suddenly notice all the high rises once dark, glittering in red and green, you will know December has arrived, precisely our victory day.

The capital bathes in colour every year on 16 December. This year, as the city celebrates the 54th Victory Day of Bangladesh, you will get its reflection in high-rise government, private, and university buildings.

Not only lights, a wide range of events, from live performances of patriotic songs and traditional theatre to children's art competitions, but all will also take place to make the day a memorable one for the visitors.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, will organise a performance of classical songs from Bangladesh Betar. These songs will be performed by the country's young generation of artists.

As part of the cultural celebration, the Jatrapala 'General Osmani' will be performed at Suhrawardy Udyan on 15 December 2025, at 3 pm. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is organising the event. The play will highlight the life and achievements of General M.A.G. Osmani, the supreme commander of the Liberation War, bringing history to life through music, drama, and stories.

The 'Victory in Colour' painting competition will be held on 15 December at 3 pm at the Battala of Dhaka University. Children and teenagers can register on the spot and participate, and they must carry their student identity cards.

Other important educational and cultural institutions in Dhaka are also organizing various programmes to celebrate Victory Day.

In continuation of this, Bangla Academy will organise literary discussions, stories, essay writing, and documentary film screenings based on the Liberation War.

Special exhibitions and exhibitions will be held at the National Museum, highlighting the history of the Liberation War and independence.

The Liberation War Museum will have interactive exhibitions, educational sessions, and video presentations. These government and non-government museums will be open to the public free of charge from morning to evening that day.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Shishu Academy will organise painting and writing competitions, short games, and cultural activities for children, so that they can learn history with joy.

The day will begin with 31 gun salutes in Dhaka on the morning of 16 December.

To celebrate the day with due dignity, Bangladesh is preparing to set a world record by parachuting with the most flags, among other events.

At 11:40 am at the old airport in Tejgaon, a joint initiative of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force, and Bangladesh Navy, 54 paratroopers will parachute with flags in their hands to celebrate the 54th Victory Day.

A special band show will be held at the same venue at 11 am on Victory Day. Along with the armed forces from across the country, the police force, BGB, Ansar, and BNCC band groups will perform.
