Bet after a long tiring, you felt your back is staging a protest every time you bend over. Feeling stiff or achy after a workout is quite normal. But did you know due to muscle soreness, all these discomforts happen to you?

It's like the cells and muscles are screaming for extra care. And how to satisfy their craving, you say? And this is where physiotherapy joins the chat. Well, no, it's not for athletes or for someone who is having surgery, anyone feeling like a rusty robot, needs some improvement in overall well-being or alleviates those pains after a long day.

What in the world is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy has a special power to heal people without using medicines. It's like a personal trainer for your overall fitness minus endless squats.

This uses heat therapy along with massage and exercise to help people recover from injuries, manage pain, and improve mobility. So, physiotherapists help you fix your body parts that aren't functioning properly; they allow you to move more swiftly.

Why should you care about Physiotherapy?

If you think, "Why should I need to go out to have a physiotherapy session when I can just stay at home, rest and sleep? I'll be fine." Well, yes, if only you are a superhero with healing power, go ahead, but for mortal human beings, physiotherapy makes a huge difference.

Ways physiotherapy reduces pain?

Physiotherapy can help you relieve your pain and increase mobility by removing stiffness, be that nagging shoulder, sore back, back pain, stiff neck, sprained ankle, and you name it. Yes, you can take painkillers, but they are harmful to your health and do not provide a long-term cure.

Like painkillers, physiotherapy doesn't mask your symptoms but rather focuses on the root cause with its noninvasive treatment.

Even physiotherapy can help you identify and prevent problems before your realization. Due to work life or academics, we spend a humongous time sitting in one posture, and you might not notice the soreness or strain on your body until it turns into a fetal disease.

A simple physiotherapy session can improve your posture and strengthen weak muscles, and sometimes, with that small session, you can avoid future injuries. And now comes the most stereotypical one; it can aid in recovery after surgery with a goal to get back to living your life as quickly and safely as possible.

Even athletes rely on physiotherapy to prevent future injuries and to enhance their performance. And it's a no-brainer how an insignificant stroke can make anyone paralyzed. But with physiotherapy it helps the patient to regain lost functions like talking and walking. So, unless you have a hobby of collecting pharmacy receipts or you enjoy waddling around like a penguin, physiotherapy can be a good idea.

Cost and options around Dhaka

Now, the million-dollar question: "Okay, I'm sold! But what's this going to cost me? Where can I find one?" There are several factors associated with the cost of physiotherapy, such as the type of clinic, the experience of the therapist, the sort of treatment you need, how long you intend to continue, and how many sessions you want to avail are some of them. Dhaka offers a wide range of physiotherapy centres, from high-end clinics to budget-friendly ones. Though Gulshan, Banani, Uttara, Dhanmondi, and Mohammadpur have a wide range of options, you have to do your homework before choosing one, as there are options for each budget.

Government hospitals

National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) can be your choice. These will cost you around 500-1000 BDT per session.

Private Hospitals

Square and Apollo Hospital are one of the options to go for these therapy sessions. These will cost you around 1500-3000 BDT per session. These are pricey but here you will find fancy machines and certifications.

Specialized physiotherapy centres

Numerous specialized centres one can go to have this therapy. One can google "Physiotherapy Center Around Me" to find the nearest physiotherapy centre within your territory. It might cost 800-2000 BDT Taka per session, and that's not all options.

Many centres offer package and COMBO deals. And some of them give student discounts. It's worth noting that physiotherapy often requires multiple sessions, so budget accordingly.

Physiotherapy is one of those things that you might only think you need once you decide to go for one session. But before taking any such steps, doctors' advice is a must. So, get an appointment with a doctor before having a physiotherapy session.
