One of the most common problems students face is maintaining their finance. At this stage of life, when you are making that final transition to a full-grown adult, you don't want to rely primarily on your parents. So many university students set out to find part-time job options.

However, with time constraints, academic pressure, and limited qualifications, they can't shoot for full-time options. It can be overwhelming and discouraging when you struggle to find work while your friends seem to thrive in their part-time gigs.

Most students believe you need extraordinary skills to find a job, and they spend time with courses to hone their skills. While this is a good thing, it demolishes your purpose of earning some income. Remember, you can find a paying gig with basic technical skills.

Online business moderator

Online businesses have been quite profitable in our country. Many people have been earning a decent, if not great, income through these Facebook pages and books.

These pages and groups often require moderators to ensure the smooth functioning of the page. The work of a moderator includes posting on the page, communicating with clients, responding to queries, confirming orders, etc.

Many students, especially girls, have opted for this job as it doesn't require many skills. Basic communication skills will be fine. The salary starts at Tk 5,000 and may increase with additional responsibilities. These jobs are mostly remote.

Customer representative

The work of a customer service representative entails engaging with the customers, communicating about their issues, attending to their queries, and taking on orders.

All businesses require representatives, so you have options to choose from. You can apply to the company whose products/services you genuinely endorse. So your work will be more accessible.

For this job, you must have excellent communication skills. You must be proficient in typing and data entry and skilled in MS Word and Excel.

Data entry

If you can type fast and work with Microsoft tools MS Word and Excel, then you can opt for a data entry job.

You need to input the provided data into the database system, create spreadsheets, and check-in data from the provided source. Most of these jobs are remote, so that you can work independently. However, there will be deadlines.

There are various content writers' groups on Facebook where recruiters regularly post for data entry jobs. You must need to be attentive to details for this work.

Content Writer

Every company needs a writer for a myriad of reasons. Writers write and edit company marketing posts, documents, and informative content about the products, curate ads, social media posts, and newsletters, among so many others.

You can earn a pretty paying gig with good writing skills and a grasp of the required writing software. You could apply to newspapers, startups, organizations, etc.

There are various types of writers, copywriters, technical writers, blog writers, and content writers. You need to find your strong suit and apply accordingly.

The writers are mostly paid per writeup. The range starts from 400 for every 1000 words to more with your experience. You should not accept anything less than 400/500 for 1000 words.

Social media manager

The need for social media managers has increased with the rise of startups and agencies. The work of a social media manager is similar to that of online moderators. However, their responsibilities are more.

As a social media manager, you need to oversee all the communications. You must handle the online page, including creating, posting, and responding to queries. The social media manager often acts as the bridge between employees and management.

Agencies and startups hire students for these roles as it doesn't require you to come daily. Hiring students rather than full-time employees is profitable for them. It is a bonus if you have previous experience in managing pages. So flick through that CV and start applying!
