Ten people have been injured in Chattogram's Raozan after assailants opened fire indiscriminately during an attack on a businessman stemming from a 'longstanding dispute', according to the police.
The incident took place around 10:30 pm on Thursday in the Palowan Para area of Noapara Union, said Raozan Police Station chief Mir Mahbubur Rahman, reports bdnews24.com.
“A group of 15 to 20 people launched an attack on a businessman named Kamal Uddin over a prior conflict,” he said.
“When local residents tried to intervene, the assailants began shooting indiscriminately, injuring nine or 10 villagers,” he added.
The attack was allegedly led by Kamal’s acquaintances Mamun, Taiyab, and Karim, according to Mahbubur.
The wounded victims are out of danger and have received treatment at a local hospital.
Mahbubur added that the attackers were also from nearby areas, and steps are being taken to file charges against them.
