Airlines operating from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka and Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram have cancelled a total of 1,070 flights in last one month since the Israel-US attack on Iran on Feb 28.
Kawsar Mahmud, assistant director (public relations) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), and Ibrahim Khalil, public relation officer of the Shah Amanat International Airport, confirmed the update.
Officials said the disruption stemmed from partial or complete airspace closures in Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan.
Operations began to recover gradually from mid-March.
According to officials, operators have cancelled a total of 858 flights to and from HSIA, including 18 on March 30. Additionally, 212 flights have been cancelled to and from Chattogram airport.
