As many as 138 new patients have been hospitalised with dengue fever across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours.
No fatalities were reported from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease during that period.
The number of patients hospitalised with the disease this year has risen to 14,069.
The death count remains unchanged at 54.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said as many as 25 new patients were hospitalised in the Dhaka city until Friday.
In addition, 19 were hospitalised in the Dhaka Division, 28 in Chattogram, three each in Khulna and Rajshahi, and 60 in Barishal.
As many as 1,271 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country.
Of them, 361 are hospitalised in the capital and 910 are outside Dhaka.
June saw 5,951 hospitalisations and 19 fatalities, followed by 1,773 cases and three deaths in May.
Earlier, 701 cases and seven deaths were recorded in April, 336 hospitalisations with no fatalities in March, 374 cases and three deaths in February, and 1,161 cases with 10 deaths in January.
In 2024, a total of 101,214 patients were hospitalised due to dengue nationwide, with 575 fatalities reported.
This marks the third-highest number of hospitalisations due to dengue in the country’s history, while the death toll ranks as the second-highest.
The DGHS has been keeping records of dengue hospitalisations and fatalities since 2000.
Since then, a record 321,179 dengue hospitalisations were logged in 2023. That year also saw the most deaths with 1,705.
