The government has suspended a total of 14 officials, mostly mid-level ones, of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for allegedly defying high-ups' directives.

To this effect, the NBR on Tuesday issued 14 separate orders, signed by NBR chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan.

The officials were allegedly involved in tearing up transfer orders of six officials, issued by the NBR chairman.

In the orders, the NBR said the action taken against them was a part of departmental proceedings due to acts of blatant disregard and defiant behaviour such as openly tearing up transfer orders.
