A total of 17,694 pilgrims have so far reached the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to perform Hajj.
The Hajj management portal (the bulletin) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Saturday morning said that 4,564 pilgrims, including government officials, have arrived in Saudi Arabia under government management, while 13,130 under private management. Of them, one has died.
A total of 87,100 pilgrims are scheduled to go to Saudi Arabia this year. Biman Bangladesh Airlines will carry out 118 pre Hajj flights, while Saudi Airlines and Flynas will operate 80 and 34 flights respectively.
On the other hand, the state-owned airline will operate 109 post Hajj flights, while Saudi Airlines and Flynas will operate 79 and 35 flights respectively.
The Hajj pilgrims started travelling to the KSA since April 29, while the last flight is scheduled for May 31. The first return Hajj flight will start on June 10 and continue until July 10.
Hajj registration started on September 1 last year and ended on December 26. This year, the cost of performing Hajj under government management is fixed at Tk 478,242 under Package-1 and at Tk 575,680 under Package-2. On the other hand, the minimum cost under private management is set at Tk 483,156.
A total of 941 hajj agencies have engaged in dealing with hajj operation this year. The holy hajj is expected to be observed on June 5 subject to moon sighting.
