The four-day-long 18th BD NOG conference and workshop commenced at a hotel in Cox's Bazar on Friday to harness local ICT talent in Bangladesh.
The workshop aims to provide an opportunity for local talents to speak about technology and encourage them to speak at an international conference.
The event is jointly organised by the Bangladesh Network Operators Group (BDNOG) and the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB).
The opening programme was followed by training sessions for internet engineers on Network Security, Segment Routing, and Advanced BGP and IXP Routing with Mikrotik.
Jatiya Sangsad Whip and Member of Parliament from Cox's Bazar-3 constituency, Shimum Sarwar Kamal, inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.
He expressed gratitude to the organisers for selecting Cox's Bazar for this technology-focused event. "Local and international experts exchange their experiences through this event, providing an opportunity to enhance the skills of our internet engineers," he stated, adding his hope that events like the BD NOG conference will expedite the development of a Smart Bangladesh.
Prominent figures including BDNOG Board of Trustee Chairman Sumon Ahmed Sabir, ISPAB President Emdadul Haque, BDNOG Trustee and International Internet Gateway Association Bangladesh (IIGAB) President Aminul Hakim, and BDNOG General Secretary Baraktul Alam Biplab spoke at the event.
