204 dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hrs

101 hospitalised in Barishal division

A total of 204 dengue positive patients were hospitalised across the country in the 24-hour period till Friday morning. As a result, the number of total dengue patients reached 11,660 this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) daily bulletin, of the latest cases, nearly half or 101 were hospitalised in Barishal division.

Besides, two city corporations of Dhaka - DSCC and DNCC - reported 57 cases, Dhaka division (excluding the two city corporation areas) reported 22, Mymensingh five, Chattogram nine, and Rajshahi Division reported 10 cases during the period.

Analysis of available data reveals that the dengue situation is taking a serious turn, as the first three days of July have already witnessed 1,364 cases of hospitalisation. The figure was 5,951 in entire June, and 1,773 in May.

Though no new death was reported in the latest period, three people died during the first three days of July, taking this year's total death toll to 45. Some 19 deaths were reported in June.

Currently 1,279 patients are undergoing treatment for the mosquito-borne disease in various hospitals across the country. Of them, 351 are admitted in various hospitals in Dhaka, and 928 are in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Meanwhile, six Covid-19 patients were detected during the period, when 242 samples were diagnosed.
